Braka 1 and 2

The first two nuclear power plants to have construction license applications filed are Braka Units 1 and 2. The Ruler's Representative in that region described the program as a driver of the country's social and economic development, and as a way to create jobs and study opportunities for UAE citizens. He stressed that the country decided on nuclear based on an evaluation of the available options including economic and environmental performance, security of supplies and the capacity of those options to realize economic diversification. He also stressed that operational transparency in the program is one of the pillars of UAE's nuclear energy policy.
