Three Mile Island - outside firefighters requested to help with minor fire this morning
A transformer fire was reported today at Three Mile Island, in the turbine building switchgear room. The plant requested outside firefighter help. The fire was reported to Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency at 11:06 am and declared out at 11:25 a.m., according to PEMA spokesperson Maria Smith. Exelon official David Simontold AP reporter that crews were still trying to figure out the cause of the fire, but that there was no danger to the public and no interruption in the plant's operations. There were no reports of injuries. PEMA head David Sanko told AP that "At no point was there any danger to the public."
