* Alliant can sell nuclear power plant

The Iowa Utilities Board on Tuesday voted to allow Alliant Energy to sell the Duane Arnold Energy Center, but not before all three board members chastised the utility for not seeking other options to relicense the nuclear power plant. Alliant officials quickly exited the hearing room after the vote. State Consumer Advocate John Perkins said he was disappointed with the decision, but he added that the board basically agreed with his position that Alliant did not thoroughly consider options to relicense Iowa's only nuclear power plant. Perkins may appeal after reviewing the board's order.
