Browns Ferry FAQs

* TVA officials say Browns Ferry Unit 2 provides power to 650,000 homes and businesses, and three combined Browns Ferry units generate enough power to supply over 2 million people.

* Browns Ferry had a checkered early history after it opened in the mid 1970s. In 1985, TVA shut the plant to make changes after a series of problems. * Browns Ferry - 1,400 workers (that's up from 1,165 last year)

Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant remains the top Limestone County employer with nearly 1,400 workers who currently maintain and operate the plant compared to 1,165 workers last year, according to TVA and a mid-year review conducted in 2012 by the Limestone County Economic Development Association.
